The set-up: The AL Central-leading Indians have won nine straight after posting a 5-4 victory on Saturday plus picked up a game on the KC Royals (Cleveland now leads by three games), who saw their nine-game winning streak end last night in a 9-8 (10 inn.) loss at Boston. Meanwhile, the White Sox have dropped 14 of their last 15 overall and at 39-62, are "closing in" on the 37-64 Phillies for MLB's worst record. The Indians look to make it 10 wins in a row and a sweep of this three-game series on Sunday, while the White Sox look to snap a five-game slide.

The pitching matchup: Josh Tomlin (7-9 & 5.59 ERA) gets the nod for Cleveland and Carlos Rodon (1-4 & 6.29 ERA) for Chicago. Tomlin has delivered three straight quality starts (all wins), allowing seven runs on 14 hits over 20 1/3 innings (3.10 ERA) with an 11-1 KW ratio walk. Tomlin has seen opponents bat .304 against him on the season but by allowing just 12 walks in 106 1/3 innings, he's mitigated some of the damage. Tomlin is 0-2 against Chicago this year (ugly 20.77 ERA) and 4-5 with a 4.29 ERA in 11 career starts against the White Sox (teams are 6-5). Rodon didn't make his 2017 debut until June 28 due to injury issues and has posted just one quality start in his first five starts of the season since coming off the disabled list. However, he has recorded 31 strikeouts over 24 1/3 innings. Rodon, who is 4-1 with a 2.22 ERA in eight career starts against the Indians (team is 4-4).

The pick: Tomlin has had two ugly starts in 2017 vs. the White Sox (see above) but off three solid starts in a row, has turned his seaon around. It's just too difficult to make a case for the 'free-falling' White Sox against the defending AL champs (led the Cubs 3-1 in the 2016 World Series), who have won nine in a row and have been a good road team all season (29-21). Make the Indians an 8* play.
