(MLB) Cincinnati vs. Colorado,
Money Line: -142.00 Cincinnati (Away)
Result: Win
Money Line: -142.00 Cincinnati (Away)
Result: Win
This is an 8* PITCHING MISMATCH on the Cincinnati Reds.
The visitors dropped the ball in the opener of this three-game set yesterday, but with what I feel to be one of the Senior Circuit's best and most consistent hurlers backing them on the hill on Friday night, I expect them to find a way to get the job done. Johnny Cueto (14-6, 2.05 ERA) is a perfect 6-0 with a tiny 2.23 ERA over his last seven starts and gave up two runs over eight frames to go along with nine K's in his team's 7-2 win over the Fish on Sunday. Cueto leads the National League with a 0.91 WHIP and is second in all MLB with 181 K's overall. The home side counters with Franklin Morales (5-6, 4.97 ERA) who is an unremarkable 1-2 with a 3.31 ERA over six starts since re-joining the rotation on July 3rd. Note that the home side is injured right now, it lost shortstop Troy Tulowitzki for the season and then announced yesterday that outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is also out for the remainder of the year. For the most part MLB handicapping comes down to the starting pitching, and in this case I think we're getting excellent value here; play on CINCINNATI.
UPDATE: Franklin Morales has been scratched for personal reasons (his wife is giving birth), meaning that Matt Belisle will make a spot start. Belisle is 3-6 with a 4.93 ERA. He is not expected to be on the hill very long before making way for the Rockies suspect bullpen. This play is STILL VALID, Cueto will cruise in this spot.
