This is an 8* O/U EAST-COAST EXPRESS on the OVER between the Orlando Magic and the Atlanta Hawks.
Perhaps surprisingly, neither of these teams has been lighting up the scoreboard of late, but for a number of different reasons, I expect this total to eclipse the number as the game comes down the stretch. Atlanta is rolling, so much so that it's in the midst of its longest winning streak in 17 seasons, it will be looking to make it nine straight victories with a visit from the lowly Magic. The Hawks have outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points during the streak, most recently pulling away for a 95-79 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday. All five Atlanta starters are averaging double figures in points. The Magic would close a 3-3 road trip with back to back wins over Utah and Sacramento before then falling 91-89 to Washington on Wednesday: "It's a tough one to take and it's a bad loss for us," forward Tobias Harris said afterwards. "Everybody in this locker room is disappointed and upset with the way we lost the game today. You can't get that one back. It's over with and you've got to grow from it. ... We've just got to be mentally stronger, learn from this and get back going again." From a trend based stand point, this play is about as strong as you could possibly ask, note that Orlando has seen the total go OVER the number in 20 of its last 37 vs. division opponents, while Atlanta has seen it sail above the posted number in four of five vs. division opponents this year and in two of three after allowing 85 points or less. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends all do indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move here.
