I had high hopes before the season that Cotton was going to be a good pitcher. That hasn't happened. He has a 5.53 ERA and isn't improving. Cotton has yielded four or more runs in six of his last eight starts. He's surrendered 24 homers in 114 innings. Houston ranks first in runs, batting average and is No. 3 in homers.

Collin McHugh takes the hill for Houston. McHugh has pitched well, but he's far from dominant. The A's are averaging more than six runs per game during their last three games.
