The White Sox are going to finish the season like they started, and like the middle, and like spring training. You get it, they are a historically bad baseball team. They did avoid the all-time record of 134 losses set in 1899, but unless they win every game, they will hold the record of any team since five years before the Wright brothers first flight. They’ve lost 23 of their last 28 and after being the only bright spot on this team, Jonathan Cannon has regressed over his last seven starts, posting a 6.03 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP, with the Sox five of the seven.
The Angels haven’t been setting the world on fire either but I have faith in Jack Kochanowicz. He’s pitched very well over the last six weeks, 3.05 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, The Angels are just 3-4 in those starts but one of those wins came against the White Sox six days ago, when he held the South Siders to a single run over seven innings.
The bottom line is you don’t get to fade the worst major league team in the last 125 years at just -120 very often. That’s exactly what we’re doing tonight.
