This is a lot of points for SMU to cover when BYU has a winning record against them. BYU has won all four games played between these two and the most recent being the New Mexico Bowl in 2022 where they won 24-23. BYU has to travel to the heat, but they have been in this spot before. SMU did not look as good in their opener against Nevada and BYU can take advantage of the weaknesses that were exposed in that game. BYU always comes out strong in September so expect this game to come down to the wire. Getting lots of points here and taking them has value.
