5*
(NCAAB) UCLA vs. Michigan State,
Point Spread: 2.00 | -110.00 UCLA (Away)
Result: Win
UCLA closed the season on a four-game skid but should have won the latter two. I'm well aware that Tom Izzo is Mr. March, but this is one of his least-talented teams in years and MSU doesn't have any great wins outside of East Lansing. The Spartans' inconsistency has stemmed from a lackluster offense that shoots at a well below average clip from everywhere on the floor and doesn't feature a lot of playmaking outside of Henry. UCLA actually grades out as the team that should be slightly favored by most metrics. Michigan State's only wins away from East Lansing are over Duke, Indiana and Nebraska, and it was hammered in one neutral site game by Maryland as the offense shut down. UCLA doesn't enter this game in a good place but three of its recent losses have come on the last possession, and Michigan State has been one of college basketball's worst teams against the spread when favored. UCLA gets my call here Thursday night.
