Walter McCarthy took his lumps in his first season as a coach with multiple transfers sitting out and his top recruit not eligible and it turned into an 11 win season. This season started with a win over Ball St and then an upset at Kentucky, The Purple Aces had wins against a lower division team and this is the biggest home game in McCarthy's tenure. SMU has been dealing with their scholarship reductions the past few seasons and are coming off a 15 win season. They are 3-0 this year but only played small DI schools that rank 219, 277 and 316 and all three were at home. The first road game for SMU and I look for Evansville to come out strong. This was very close to a 10* in college hoops Monday night.
