Braves over Reds- As the Mets are free falling both the Phillies and Braves have moved ahead of New York in the NL East standings. After five straight home wins the Reds have taken to the road and have lost three in-a-row but still have a 1.5-game lead in the NL Wild Card standings. Atlanta will most likely need to win the division for the fourth straight year to qualify for this season's playoffs and Cincinnati needs just to keep pace right now. The Reds will start Vladimir Gutierrez (7-3, 4.15 ERA) who has won his last three starts posting an ERA of 1.86 and he will be opposed by Kyle Muller (2-3, 2.88) who held Cincy scoreless in five innings with nine strikeouts on June 27. The Braves have lost 4-straight in Atlanta and the beat goes on today. Take ATLANTA!
