Padres over Phillies- It seems a bit odd to me that this game would open a pick-em. The Padres have lost the last six starts by Joey Lucchesi (7-7, 4.25 ERA) since the All-Star break, but in his lone career appearance against them he shut them out in six scoreless innings last August. Philadelphia will counter with Jason Vargas (6-6, 4.03) who is 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA in three starts for the Phillies since coming over from the Mets. He is 3-2 with a 4.00 ERA in six starts against the Padres. Take SAN DIEGO!
