LSU destroyed Sam Houston in part because they are trying to develop a passing game to go with great running game. Hence with a solid QB battle, there is plenty of reason to keep the foot on the gas pedal.

Sophomore Anthony Jennings has thrown for 427 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions so far, solidifying his hold on the starting quarterback job ahead of freshman Brandon Harris.

But even if they go to the bench with ground game, that is a good thing too. The running back corps, which features seniors Terrence Magee and Kenny Hilliard, is looking increasingly deep, given contributions made by freshmen Leonard Fournette and Darrel Williams.

Fournette ran for 92 yards and one touchdown, and caught two passes for another 32 yards against the Bearkats. Darrel Williams, playing for the first time, had 14 carries for 65 yards and a score.

Our experience is that talented youth can certainly be a bad thing in a tough, early road game, but great against an overmatched team at home.

Under Miles, LSU is 11-0 straight up against the in-state likes of ULM, Lousiana-Lafayette, Northwestern State, McNeese State, Louisiana Tech and Tulane. The games usually are not particularly competitive as LSU won by an average score of 41-6.

ULM cannot possibly slow down Travin Dural, a WR who will scored three or more touchdowns against that secondary.

The SEC outscored its nonconference competition 550-126 last Saturday. With a deep running game and a legitimate QB battle enough reason to not nurse a lead, look for the Tigers to destroy Louisiana-Monroe.
