Major
(NFL) Oakland vs. NY Jets,
Point Spread: 5.50 | -105.00 Oakland (Away)
Result: Win
The Jets have two backup quarterbacks in search of a clue. Remember rookie QBs, even Geno Smith, have had growing success in recent years in the NFL. Raiders will start Derek Carr. Carr sizzled with a 105.2 passer rating on 45 throws. No team, absolutely no team spent more money on adding veterans in the offseason.

Carr played one year in college in a pro-style offense under former coach Pat Hill and has made the transition back to that kind of system since joining the Raiders.

Carr played well in the preseason, completing 66.7 percent of his passes with four touchdowns, one interception and a 108.2 passer rating. He showed the strong arm needed to stretch the field, completing 11 of 18 passes more than 10 yards downfield for 234 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Jets have a tough front seven, but the secondary is in flux. Right now, it looks like Darrin Walls and converted safety Antonio Allen will start the opener. They have a grand total of four career starts, all by Walls.
