Point Spread: 3.00 | -120.00 Maryland (Home)
Result: Loss
Essentially a home game for Maryland, which travels 23 miles, while Marshall comes 323. Not surprisingly, the Terps has sold twice as many tickets and they game will mean more to them.
Quarterback C.J. Brown sustained a concussion in that loss to the Seminoles and did not play the next week in a close win over Virginia.
Brown returned against Wake Forest, only to take another pounding and was sidelined for the second half of that contest and the loss to Clemson.
The dual-threat quarterback returned against Syracuse, but was a shell of himself in a loss to the Orange that left the Terrapins at 5-4 after starting undefeated through four games.
Brown returned to form in the final three games and rushed for more than 100 yards in wins over Virginia Tech and N.C. State. The other game was a wild 29-26 loss to Boston College when the Eagles got a lengthy field goal at the end to win after the first attempt failed.
In addition to Brown, Maryland lost several key players out of its lineup for the season, including many at skill spots where depth was still being developed.
Now, with nearly one month between games, Maryland is going to be the healthiest it has been since the early portion of the season. Maryland is a very good defensive team holding teams to .2 yards per rushing attempt and .4 yards per pass below their normal season average. Look for the Terps to benefit from the break in win outright.
