Make what you want out of Spring Training, but Shane Bieber has been impressive with a 1.56 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 19 Ks in 17 innings this spring. With a fresh bullpen behind him to start the season, I expect Bieber to pitch well against the A's. Bieber has made two road starts in Oakland (2022 & 2023) and has a 2.77 ERA in those games.
Cleveland's issue is that the A's will counter with southpaw Alex Wood. Active Guardians hitters have just a .212 lifetime on-base percentage against him, with no home runs or RBI in 32 at-bats. Cleveland was also dead last season in the MLB in home runs, and Oakland was dead last in runs per game scored when at home.
