Rogers' EARLY Total MASSACRE (12:35 ET START!) >> 29-19-4 in MLB Since Break!
(MLB) Atlanta vs. Philadelphia,
Total: 9.00 | -130.00 Under
Result: Win
The set-up: The 38-64 Philadelphia Phillies may own MLB's worst record but don't try to 'sell' that to the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies made it three wins in a row over the Braves in Sunday's 2-1 victory and Philadelphia has now defeated Atlanta eight times in 10 tries in 2017. The Phillies are playing their best baseball of the season, averaging 5.8 RPG in their last 11 contests. Meanwhile, the Braves have lost seven of eight, a stretch in which the team has averaged a meager 3.3 RPG. Atlanta concludes a three-city, 11-game road trip Monday, looking to avoid a four-game sweep but has stranded 29 runners through the first three games of the series. The Phillies are 10-3 in their last 13 home games with the Braves, going back to May of 2016!

The pitching matchup: Mike Foltynewicz (9-5 & 3.82 ERA), who has established himself as Atlanta's ace in his third season with the Braves, will start for Atlanta up against Philly rookie Nick Pivetta (3-6 & 5.73 ERA). Foltynewicz has not lost since late-May, going 6-0 with a 3.33 ERA in 10 starts since June 2, while surrendering two runs or less seven times (Braves are 9-1 in those outings, after winning NINE in a row!). Foltynewicz is 3-1 with a 3.30 ERA in five career starts vs. the Philies (team is 3-2). Pivetta earned his first major-league victory against Atlanta in his fifth career start (June 5), giving up three runs on six hits over five innings in an 11-4 Philies victory. However, the rookie has pretty much struggled since, going 2-4 with a 6.00 ERA over his last nine outings (team is 3-6). It hasn't helped that he's allowed 11 HRs in 51 innings over that stretch.

The pick: No reason those Philly bats won't stay hot even against Foltynewicz, as remember, the Phils are the averaging almost six runs per over their last 11. As for the Braves, Pivetta should be just what the doctor ordered for the slumping Atlanta bats. After all, in three starts since the All-Star break, Pivetta has given up 17 ERs in 16 1/3 innings (9.37 ERA) with opposing batters hitting .281 against him in that stretch with an .871 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. Make the Over an 8* play.
