(NHL) Ottawa vs. Boston,
Money Line: -155.00 Boston (Home)
Result: Loss
The set-up: History tells us that the Boston Bruins have never come back from a 3-1 postseason series deficit but Sean Kuraly's double-overtime goal enabled the Bruins to stave off elimination on Friday and force a Game 6 in their Eastern Conference first-round series against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. Boston overcame a two-goal deficit and had to withstand an apparent game-winning goal in overtime being overturned by video before beating Ottawa. For their part, the Senators have won all eight series in which they've held 3-1 leads and still have the comfort of knowing a potential deciding Game 7 would be played on their home ice.

Ottawa: "We knew they weren't just going to roll over and die," Senators forward Mark Stone said. "We've just got to go to Boston and regroup." The Senators managed only five shots on goal in the third period but head coach Guy Boucher dismissed the notion that his team went into a protective shell. "It's different during the regular season," Boucher said. "We weren't scared to lose. I thought we did a good job at that. It's one of those games that could go either way and it didn't go our way." The Senators should be confident, as in this series, they took Game 3 in overtime and won 1-0 in Game 4 (both in Boston), with Bobby Ryan scoring the winner in both games. Ottawa has now won five straight games at TD Garden and is 7-2 overall against Boston this season.

Boston: "We were just battling out there," Bruins captain Zdeno Chara said about his team's Game 5 effort. "We were close and a few denied goals, but that's just part of it and you have to battle through it and keep going and that's what we did." Kuraly waa clearly a surprise hero for the Bruins. He played in only eight contests during the regular season and was a healthy scratch for Games 3 and 4. However, head coach Bruce Cassidy inserted the rookie in the lineup and he has temporarily saved Boston's season. Kuraly scored his first NHL goal late in the second period to tie the score at 2-2 before before delivering the decisive tally midway through the extra session,

The pick: Boston now gets a chance to earn a win at home and send this series back to Ottawa for a Game 7. The Bruins shut down the Senators on all five of their power-play chances on Friday and Ottawa is now 0-for-8 with a man advantage these last two games. Yes, Ottawa has won seven of nine against Boston this season but seven of the nine have been decided by one goal (one of the two two-goal decisions included an empty-netter. Four of the nine have required extra time. Gut feeling here says the series is headed for a Game 7. Make Boston a 10* play.
