Rogers' 10* Monday Night MASSACRE
(NFL) NY Jets vs. Arizona,
Point Spread: 7.50 | -113.00 NY Jets (Away)
Result: Loss
The set-up: Arizona was in a near must-win situation a week ago Thursday but even without QB Carson Palmer available, the Cards were able to win 33-21 at San Francisco to move to 2-3. Drew Stanton made his first start since 2014 and completed only 11 of 28 for 124 yards but had two TD passes and didn't throw an INT. RB David Johnson came up big with a 157 rushing yards and two TDs. Meanwhile, the Jets fell to 1-4 in Week 5 with a 31-13 loss at Pittsburgh, as Big Ben shredded the Jets pass D for 380 yards and four TD passes.

NY Jets: The Jets opened the season with a tough 23-22 home loss to the Bengals, then beat the Bills in Buffalo 37-31 just four days later in a Thursday night game. However, the team's dropped three straight since, scoring only 33 points in that span. New York was blanked in the second half of last week's 31-13 loss at Pittsburgh but QB Ryan Fitzpatrick did not throw an interception after he was picked off nine times in the previous two games. RB Matt Forte looks like an "old 30" these days, as after a good start to the 2016 season (155 yards from scrimmage in Week 1 and a 100-yard rushing game in Week 2), he's averaged 48.3 YPG rushing in the team's three-game slide, while catching six passes for only 22 yards. Fitzgerald's job has become even tougher now that WR Eric Decker, who had 12 TD catches in 2015, has been lost to season-ending shoulder surgery. The Jest are averaging just 18.4 PPG (25th), while allowing 27.2 PPG (24th). The team's rush D ranks 2nd (68.4 YPG) but the pass D has been a sieve, allowing 303.0 YPG (31st).

Arizona: The Cardinals came into the season as a legitimate Super Bowl contender following a 13-3 record a year ago but now need a win here just to reach .500. The good news is that Carson Palmer is poised to return to the starting lineup. However, he's got six TDs and five INTs so far in 2016 (81.9 QB rating), coming off a season in which he a 35-11 ratio with a 104.6 QB rating. RB David Johnson is a rising star (457 RY on 5.0 YPC with 5 TDs plus 17 catches while averaging 14.0 YPC) and WR Fitzgerald an established star (31 catches with 5 TDs). However, the NFL's leader it total yards last year at 408.3 YPG is averaging 363.2 YPG in 2016 and scoring is down from 30.6 PPG (2nd) to 25.0 PPG (9th).

The pick: The Cards have already lost as many games in 2016, as they did all of last year and surely can't afford another home loss, as they've opened 1-2 SU and ATS at home in 2016. The Cards were 6-2 SU at home last year but also only 3-5 ATS. That means that they are just 4-7 ATS at home since the start of the 2015 season and I want no part of laying points with them here (who knows about Palmer's status?). The Jets are desperate and head coach Todd Bowles' job may be on the line. I'm taking the points and making the Jets a 10* play.
