*10* Coach's Playbook on New Orleans Pelicans.
Either the Orlando Magic or the New Orleans Pelicans will leave Smoothie King Center with their first win of the season tonight. The Pelicans are holding the home-court advantage and my money is on them to run away with the game.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. New Orleans' Deceiving Schedule - While it's true that the Pelicans are still win-less that should not come as a huge surprise considering their schedule. They've lost a home-and-home against the reigning champions Golden State with a game at Portland sandwiched in between. They looked decent going forward in the 134-120 defeat to the Warriors Saturday and are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on two days rest.
2. Home Cookin' - The Pelicans have covered the spread in six of their last eight in front of the home-town crowd and they're 6-1 ATS in the last seven when hosting the Magic.
3. X-Factor - Orlando ranks near the bottom of the NBA in both field-goal percentage (40.2) and 3-point shooting (29.3).
Selection: This is a play on the New Orleans Pelicans (10*)
