The Coach's MLB Tuesday Night SLAUGHTERHOUSE
(MLB) Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh,
Money Line: 102.00 Pittsburgh (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: 102.00 Pittsburgh (Home)
Result: Win
The Pittsburgh Pirates return home after getting swept in a three game series at Washington, and they'll look to get back on track against the Reds tonight. Pittsburgh had won eight straight before they arrived in the nation's capital, and they've won their last six at PNC Park. I like the Pirates to snap out of a funk here at home.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - Jeff Locke will get the nod for Pittsburgh, and the southpaw has been sharp in recent outings. Locke (4-3, 4.74 ERA) gave up just two runs on three hits over six innings in a win over the White Sox in his last start. He's 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in seven starts in Pittsburgh so far. The Reds counter with rookie right-hander Josh Smith, and the 27 year old is making his major league debut.
2. Home Cookin' - The Pirates have been tough to beat at PNC Park in recent seasons, and they've won 52 of their last 76 home games. They are also 38-17 in their last 55 home games vs. a right-handed starter.
3. X-Factor - The Pirates are 13-3 in Lockes last 16 home starts.
Selection: This is a play on the Pittsburgh Pirates (8*)
