The San Diego Padres have lost five of their last six, and they have a tough match-up here in Arizona tonight. The D'Backs have won six of their last eight overall, and they send a hot young pitcher to the mound tonight.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Pitching - Robbie Ray will get the nod for Arizona, and the rookie has had a fantastic start to the season. Ray (2-1, 1.09 ERA) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits in a win over the Angels in Anaheim in his last start. The Padres will counter with Tyson Ross, who has lost two straight. Ross (3-7, 3.90 ERA) surrendered seven runs on 15 hits over 11 innings in those two losses.

2. Paul Goldschmidt - The Arizona slugger is batting a major league best .358 with 19 home runs and 55 RBIs. He's 6-for-17 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs lifetime versus Ross.

3. X-Factor - The Padres are 3-9 in Ross' last 12 road starts.
