The St. Louis Blues are on the brink of elimination tonight as they travel to Excel Energy Center to do battle with the Minnesota Wild in Game 6 in this best of 7 series. The Wild are up 3-2 in the series after a 4-1 victory Friday, and I expect both team to come in here with a cautious game plan considering what's at stake as the Wild won't be excited about going to St. Louis for a Game 7 if they were to lose.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Goaltending - Devan Dubnyk bounced back from a rough outing in Game 4 as he made 36 saves in Friday's 4-1 win. I expect him to stay hot and the Blues Jake Allen to come back from a less than ideal outing of his own as he made only 15 saves in the last game. He's had good success at Minnesota in this series though compiling a 1.51 GAA and a .927 GAA over the first two meetings at Xcel Energy Center.
2. Special Teams - The Wild have scored four of their 13 goals in this series on the man advantage for a 36.4% success rate. This from a team who's power play unit ranked among the worst in the NHL for the regular season. I think it's safe to say they've overachieved, and if we take away the Wild's goals on the power play they're showing a rather low goals-per-game average in the post-season.
3. X-Factor - Jake Allen had 11 consecutive starts over which he had surrendered two goals or fewer before Friday's loss.
Selection: This is a play on STL@MIN to go under the total
