The Atlanta Braves ended a four game skid last night as they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2. The two teams are tied at 1-1 in this series coming into today's rubber-match, and I think Atlanta looks good here in the series finale.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Phillies will hand the ball to Jerome Williams (1-1, 3.71 ERA) who opened the season with a stellar performance against the Nats but has been roughed up quite a bit since. He's allowed a total of eight runs on 18 hits with three homers over just 11 innings in his last two starts. He's struggled against the Braves of late going 0-3 with a 7.50 ERA in the last four meetings. The Braves will counter with Trevor Cahill (0-2, 9.95 ERA) who's been lit up in both his starts on the year. He's 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two career starts at Philadelphia though, and Ryan Howard who's already deep in a slump is 0-for-9 with six strikeouts against Cahill lifetime.
2. Road Warriors - The Braves are 6-2 in their last eight road games against a team with a losing home record and have won seven of the last nine meetings at Citizens Bank Park.
3. X-Factor - Nick Markakis is 6-for-13 against Williams lifetime and was 2-for-4 with a walk in last night's contest.
Selection: This is a play on the Atlanta Braves(10*)
