The Tigers were on the wrong side of a 13-1 blowout, losing the series opener against Cleveland last night. That makes it four straight losses for Detroit, but I expect them to get off the schneid here this afternoon.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Pitching - Alfredo Simon will get the call for the home team, and he continues to shine after a brilliant 2014 campaign. Simon (3-0, 1.74 ERA) gave up just one run on seven hits, racking up seven Ks over 7.1 innings in a win over the Yankees in his latest start. The Indians will counter with youngster Trevor Bauer, who has walked 11 batters in his first three starts.

2. Batter vs. Pitcher - Alex Avila is 5-for-8 with a home run lifetime versus Bauer, while JD Martinez is hitting .455 with a home run in 11 career at bats versus the right-hander.

3. X-Factor - The Indians rank 24th in the majors in scoring with just 57 runs scored, 21 fewer than the Tigers.
