Result: Loss
The Kansas City Royals rallied to win by a score of 6-5 in last night's Game 2 versus the Twins, and they own a share of first place in the AL Central, tied with Detroit. They'll be looking to break out the brooms with a chance to sweep the Twins in the series final at Kauffman Stadium tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - Jeremy Guthrie will be on the mound for the Royals, and the veteran has been very dependable in recent seasons. He's allowed eight runs on 13 hits over 13 innings, but the Royals have won both of his previous starts. The Twins counter with Mike Pelfrey, who is still looking for his first victory of the season.
2. Batter vs. Pitcher - Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon are a combined 6-for-14 (.429) lifetime versus Pelfrey, while Hosmer, Perez and Moustakas are all hitting .500 over a combined 20 at bats. Omar Infante has see more of him than any other player on the roster, and he's batting .410 in 39 career at bats.
3. X-Factor - The Royals have the best bullpen in the majors, with an ERA of 0.64 through 42 innings. Minnesota's relief pitchers have a combined ERA of 4.50. Only Tampa Bay and Baltimore have a higher ERA by reliever in the American League.
Selection: This is a play on the Kansas City Royals(7*)
