1. Pitching - Gerit Cole will be on the hill for the home team, and he's coming off a win in his most recent start. Cole (1-0, 3.27 ERA) allowed a run on three hits while racking up eight Ks in six innings in a win over the Tigers. The 24 year old was 5-1 with a 3.39 ERA in 11 starts at PNC Park last season. The Brewers will counter with Matt Garza, who has been hit hard by the Pirates in previous meetings.

2. Batter vs Pitcher - Pedro Alvarez is 8-for-18 (.444) with a home run and six RBIs lifetime versus Garza.

3. X-Factor - Garza is 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA in four starts against Pittsburgh over the last three seasons.
