"The Coach's" MLB Total DOMINATION
(MLB) Chi White Sox vs. Cleveland,
Total: 7.00 | -112.00 Over
Result: Win
Total: 7.00 | -112.00 Over
Result: Win
The Chicago White Sox struggled at the plate to start the season mustering only seven runs over their first four games. The bats have come alive of late, but I think they're about to cool off again as they open a two game set at Cleveland tonight. The same goes for a Cleveland Indians team that were swept in a three game set against the Tigers. With two struggling offenses facing a pair of quality starting pitchers, runs could be hard to come by tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The White Sox will hand the ball to Jose Quintana who will be looking to bounce back from an atrocious performance as he surrendered five runs on nine hits over five innings of work. He's coming off a decent enough 2014 season though where he posted a 3.32 ERA over 32 starts as he allowed 10 runs on 26 hits over 23 innings against the Tribe. Cleveland will counter with Carlos Carrasco who will look to build on an outstanding performance his first start of the year. The 28 year old hurled 6 1/3 scoreless innings giving up only three hits with 10 strike-outs in a 2-0 win at Houston. He was 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA over 40 outings, 14 starts last year and compiled a 2.30 ERA over 21 appearances at home.
2. Trends - If history is any indication we should be in for a low-scoring contest here as none of the last five meetings in Cleveland have gone over the total. The under is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings overall as well and 11-1 in Carrasco's last 12 starts.
3. X-Factor - Cleveland might struggle to solve Quintana here as they're 0-3 against left-handed starters on the year, batting a lowly .216 against southpaws.
Selection: This is a play on CHW@CLE to stay under the total(10*)
