The Coach's Saturday NHL Trifecta
(NHL) Philadelphia vs. Boston,
Money Line: -157.00 Boston (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: -157.00 Boston (Home)
Result: Win
It's a huge game for both teams when the Philadelphia Flyers travel to Boston to take on the Bruins at TD Garden Saturday. The hosts are currently holding down the last wild card spot in the East, while the Flyers are in a pack of three teams trying to hunt them down. A Philly win would take them within two points of the Bruins, but Boston has won the first two meetings of the season and I like it's chances of completing the season sweep tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Road Woes - Philly has won only nine of its 32 games away from home this season losing four of its last five. Its star netminder Steve Mason has recorded one single win over 17 appearances away from home for the season, allowing 2.61 goals per game on average. Trips to Boston have not been a pleasant experience over recent seasons either for Philly as it has left as losers in four consecutive visits.
2. Boston's Dominance - Not only has Boston won both meetings this season, it has won all of the last five overall. It is 16-3-1 in this series since blowing a 3-0 series lead against Philly in the play off 2010.
3. X-Factor - Tuukka Rask has won five straight meetings with the Flyers and done so behind a miniscule GAA of 1.57.
Selection: This is a play on the Boston Bruins (8*)
