The Sooners were upset by a score of 59-56 at Kansas State this weekend, and they have another tough game against a conference rival tonight when they host Texas. The Longhorns come in as winners of three straight, and that streak started in Manhattan where the Sooners five game win streak just ended. This game appears to have the potential to be a close one, and I'll take the points.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Road Warriors - The Longhorns are just 4-4 on the road this season, but they've covered the points in eight of their last 10 away from home. Texas has covered the spread in three of it's last four visits to Oklahoma.
2. Myles Turner - The freshman forward scored 25 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday's win over the Red Raiders. He could have a field day on the glass tonight against an Oklahoma team that is near the bottom of the conference in rebounding. The Longhorns lead the Big-12 with a rebound margin of +9.
3. X-Factor - The Longhorns were crushed at home by the Sooners earlier this season, and you can bet they will be looking for revenge in the storied Red River Rivalry. Oklahoma's coach Lon Kruger is expecting tonight's game to be a much different story: "That happens occasionally, not often in this league for sure but expect a totally different ballgame." said Kruger.
Selection: This is a play on the Texas Longhorns(8*)
