The Notre Dame Fighting Irish destroyed the Texas Longhorns 38-3 last year. I expect a very different outcome when the teams clash at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas Sunday night.
Texas returns 15 starters from last year, including its top two rushers, three of its top five receivers and seven of its top nine tacklers on defense. Notre Dame meanwhile has only seven returning starters and has lost its leading rusher, six of its top seven receivers and seven of its top eight tacklers on defense.
The Longhorns recorded a couple of impressive upsets last season and they look like a much improved team heading into this campaign. I would not be surprised to see the Longhorns win this one outright, but taking the points looks like the sharper move.
