The Vanderbilt Commodores will host the South Carolina Gamecocks at Vanderbilt Stadium Friday night, and this looks like a good spot to back the home team minus the points.
Vanderbilt struggled on the ball last season, but its defense was phenomenal and was ranked 22nd in the nation, allowing just 21 points per game. I expect a better Commodores offense this year, and we can note that they have on of the best running backs in the conference in Ralph Webb.
The Gamecocks closed last season with five straight losses and they've now lost their best offensive weapons to graduation. New coach Will Muschamp will have his work cut out for him. South Carolina was 71st in the country in scoring defense by allowing 27.5 points a contest and 110th for scoring offense with 21.9 points per game, and I think the Gamecocks will be in for another tough season starting with a defeat at Vanderbilt on opening night.
