Rating: 10*

This looks like a great spot to back the Texas Rangers as they visit the Tampa Bay Rays for the opener of a three-game set Friday night.

Cole Hamels (12-4, 2.88 ERA) will take the ball for Texas. The left-hander is 3-2 with a minuscule 1.96 ERA in six starts since the All Star break and 8-2 behind a 1.97 ERA in 13 road starts on the season.

The Rays turn to Matt Andriese (6-4, 3.36). The Rays have lost each of his three starts since he joined the rotation after a trade-deadline, and Andriese has compiled a 6.59 ERA in those three games. He was ripped for six runs, eight hits and four home runs in an 8-4 loss at Yankee Stadium his last time out.

Rangers are 10-1 in their last 11 vs. a team with a losing record and 17-4 in Hamels' last 21 starts vs. a team with a losing record. Rays are 15-36 in their last 51 vs. a team with a winning record and 0-7 in Andriese's last seven starts vs. a team with a winning record.
