Play: San Francisco Giants -1.5
Rating: 8*
The San Francisco Giants are coming off three consecutive defeats here in the Bay Bridge Series, but I think they'll deny the A's a sweep with Madison Bumgarner on the hill Thursday night.
Bumgarner (8-4, 1.99 ERA) is coming off back-to-back losses himself despite surrendering just four runs on 10 hits through 14 1/3 innings of work. MadBum is 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA in seven road starts this year, striking out 56 hitters while walking 15 through 46 2/3 frames.
The A's turn to 24 year old rookie Dillon Overton (1-0, 4.76 ERA) who'll make his second start in the big leagues. The left-hander was charged with three runs, all homers, on seven hits and a pair of walks in 5 2/3 innings at the Angels in his debut. The Giants are 8-1 in their last nine road games vs. a left-handed starter and 21-5 in their last 26 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
The Athletics are 0-5 in their last five during Game 4 of a series and the Giants are 14-8 against the run line as a favorite on the road this season.
