Total: 5.50 | -105.00 Under
Result: Win
This is an 8* O/U INTERCONTINENTAL EXPRESS on the OVER between the Colorado Avalanche and the New York Islanders.
The Isles roared out of the gates as one of the highest scoring teams in the league to start the season, and while they've still been winning of late, the scoring on their victories has come way down. The Avs though have played to some pretty high-scoring affairs of late, unfortunatley though they've for the most part been on the wrong end of the outcome. When the smoke finally clears at the end of this one, I look for this total to eclipse the posted number. The Isles actually opened a five-game trip with a lopsided loss to Colorado and then another setback in their next game, only to finish with three straight victories. There's no doubt the home side will be looking to avenge that setback. New York actually outshot Colorado 40-23 in that one, but would lose 5-0. Since beating Boston 2-1 on October 13th, the Avs have gone a dismal 0-3-3 on the road, the teams longest road skid since an 0-11-3 slide back in 2012. Note, since beating the Isles, Colorado has allowed 18 goals while going just 1-3-1. Colorado goaltender Semyon Varlamov is 0-2-1 with a 3.29 GAA in three games since the win over New York. Note that Colorado has already seen the total go OVER the number in both games that it's played this year after two or more days of rest, while New York has seen it eclipse the number in 16 of its last 20 in the same position. The situation, the numbers and the trends all point to the OVER as the sharp move in this one.
