This is a 10* O/U ART OF THE GAME on the UNDER between the Calgary Flames and the Carolina Hurricanes.
These two teams have been winning, so not surprisingly, they've both been playing to some higher-scoring affairs. However, I think the conditions are finally right for a lower-scoring battle and look for this total to sneak below the posted number. After an 0-6-1 start the Hurricanes have gone 4-0-1, they allowed almost 4 GPG during the slide but have looked impressive in giving up just ten in the last five. Calgary has scored 22 goals over a 4-1-0 stretch, most recently storming back to take a 6-4 win over Florida on Saturday. The home side will be extra motivated here to slow down the surging Flames as they've won four straight in the series and are 8-1-1 in its since the start of 2003. Note that Calgary goaltender Jonas Hiller is 4-1-0 with a 1.58 GAA vs. the Hurricanes and 7-1-1 with a 1.73 GAA since losing his first two starts with Calgary. Cam Ward has been in net for all four wins for Carolina, posting a tiny 1.48 GAA in the process. Note that Calgary has seen the total go UNDER the number in 24 of its last 40 non-conference games, while Carolina has seen it dip below the number in 22 of its last 30 in the same position. All signs do indeed point to the UNDER as the sharp move in this one.
