This is an 8* O/U DIVISIONAL DESTRUCTION on the OVER between the St. Louis Rams and the Arizona Cardinals.
Divisional matchups are the most important, and that's especially true for these two teams, each of which is coming off a victory; suffice it to say, when the smoke clears at the end of this one, I expect the total to eclipse what I think is a definite oddsmakers mistake. Arizona has won four straight and is 7-1 overall. Last week it beat Dallas 28-17. This is a golden opportunity for the home side to distance itself, the franchise hasn't started 8-1 since 1948. Arizona has the league's fifth ranked defense, but the offense has also impressed, QB Carson Palmer had 249 yards and three TD's vs. the Cowboys, despite missing three contests with a shoulder injury, he's thrown 11 TD's and two INT's overall. So should we read alot into the Rams performance last week? St. Louis would sack Colin Kaepernick eight times and hold the 49ers to just 263 yards in the 13-10 win. I'd say we need to be cautious, don't forget that the Rams had allowed an average of 375.6 yards and recorded just six total sacks through seven games previous. St. Louis will have its hands with the Cards defense, but note that the Rams have seen the total go OVER the number in three of four vs. teams with winning records this year and in 16 of their last 24 "dome" games. And note that Arizona has seen the total eclipse the number in eight of its last 14 vs. divisional opponents. When you add it all up, this total is just a little low, play on the OVER.
