This is a 10* O/U WEST-COAST EXPRESS on the OVER between the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Both of these gifted offensive clubs have been playing to some pretty low-scoring affairs of late, but I think the conditions are finally right for a higher-scoring shootout and expect this total to eclipse the number by at least early in the third period. The Ducks had won seven straight before losing 4-1 to San Jose on Sunday, giving up four first period goals. Note that Anaheim lost the services of defenseman Ben Lovejoy in that one who broke a finger in a fight. The Hawks are coming off a 2-1 win over Ottawa on Sunday to improve to 4-0-1 at the United Center. The victory snapped a two game skid. Despite who gets the start in net for either side, for a number of different trend based reasons, the OVER is definitely the savvy move in my opinion; note that Anaheim has seen the total go OVER the number in 11 of its last 13 after scoring 1 goal or less in its previous contest, while Chicago has seen it sail above the number in 40 of its last 75 vs. clubs with winning records. The situation, the numbers and the trends all point to the OVER as the sharp move in this contest.
