This is a 6* BIG-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the Washington Nationals.
Despite being without the services of Ryan Zimmerman and Denard Span due to injury, I think the Nationals, who have a chance to wrap up the league's top seed with a victory tonight, will still find a way to get the job done and have no issues whatsoever in laying this larger price. Washington is on a roll, it's won five straight and 20 of its last 23 vs. the Metropolitans. The home side has to be feeling pretty confident that it will get the job done this evening in sending Gio Gonzalez (9-10, 3.74 ERA) to the hill as he's allowed three earned runs or less while going at least six frames in each of his last six starts; most recently the southpaw gave up two runs over seven innings in his team's 6-2 win over Miami on Thursday (note that Gonzalez has faired well against the Mets throughout his career, 6-4 with a very respectable 3.44 ERA in 12 career outings in the series). The visitors counter with Dillon Gee (7-8, 3.88 ERA) who is 3-7 with a ballooned 4.95 ERA in his last 12 starts, he was most recently shelled for four runs over 6 2/3's innings in his team's 4-3 loss to the Fish on Wednesday. For this pick I'm concentrating solely on the starting pitchers, Gonzalez gets the huge nod in this matchup, lay the price with confidence; play on the NATIONALS.
