This is an 8* MID-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the Seattle Mariners.
I played Seattle yesterday, James Paxton got rocked and the visitors would have to endure a tough 14-4 loss. You pretty much know what you're going to get every time that Felix Hernandez (14-5, 2.07 ERA) heads to the hill though and after yesterday's embarrasing effort, I like the visitors to bounce back here and have no issues laying what I feel is a very reasonable mid-sized price. The loss dropped the M's two games out of the final wild-card spot, but they have to be feeling pretty confident in sending their ace to the mound, most recently Hernandez gave up three hits and struck out 11 over seven frames in a 3-1 win over the Angels on Thursday; note that "The King" is 1-0 with a minuscule 0.96 ERA in four starts this month. When Hernandez faced the Jays on August 11th, he'd give up one run and three hits while striking out eight over seven innings in an 11-1 win. The home side counters with RA Dickey (13-12, 3.83 ERA) who is 4-0 over his last six outings while posting a 2.45 ERA in his last five; most recently he gave up two runs over six innings in a 3-2 loss to the Yanks on Thursday. I give Seattle the motivational edge as well as the nod on the bump and with those two crucial factors working in their favor, all signs do indeed point to the MARINERS as the sharp wager in this contest.
