Money Line: -152.00 Seattle (Away)
Result: Win
This is an 8* MID-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the Seattle Mariners.
I think the talent discrepancy on the mound absolutely justifies in laying what I deem to be a very reasonable mid-sized price. The visitors send the red hot Hisashi Iwakuma (12-6, 2.57 ERA) to the hill; Iwakuma has posted a minuscule 0.61 ERA in four starts in August and has 120 K's to just 12 walks on the season. Most recently Iwakuma struck out 11 with no walks over eight scoreless frames in his team's 5-2 win over Philadelphia on Tuesday. Iwakuma will be especially motivated here and certainly won't be complacent, he's struggled against the Red Sox throughout his career which includes a season worst-tying five runs over four frames in a 5-4 loss on June 25th. Seattle is in a dog fight with Detroit for the second wild-card spot and will seek its first three game sweep at Fenway Park ever with another big effort, it won't be easy in facing Allen Webster (3-1, 4.73 ERA) who gave up three runs over six frames in his team's 4-3 loss to the Angels on Tuesday. So while Webster has been decent of late, his team has been anything but, it's been outscored 38-15 during a seven-game losing streak, all of the losses have been in front of the home town crowd. I'm giving Iwakuma the big nod on the mound, the M's the big nod at the plate and the visitors the big nod in the motivation department, those three crucial factors collide making this a price I can definitely live with paying; play on the MARINERS.
