Result: Win
This is an 8* play on the UNDER between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds.
These teams have played to some pretty high-scoring affairs of late, but I think the conditions are finally right for a lower-scoring contest in this particular matchup. The visitors send Mike Minor (5-8, 5.16 ERA) to the hill. Minor started the season horribly, but has quietly been turning things around of late, most recently he gave up two runs and four hits over a season best-tying seven frames while strking out seven in a 4-3 win over Oakland. A date vs. Cincinnati is just what the doctor ordered for Minor as well to keep things rolling, he posted a very respectable 1.93 ERA in winning both matchups vs. it last season. The Reds continue to spiral out of the playoff picture after yesterday's 8-0 loss, and look to Mat Latos (4-3, 3.10 ERA) to stop the slide; Latos was 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in three starts this month, before then allowing three runs over five frames in his team's eventual 10-9 loss in Sunday's doubleheader at Colorado. Latos is going to have to be sharp as his team continues to struggle at the plate; I believe the situation, the numbers and the trends all point to the UNDER as the sharp wager in this contest.
