Detroit has a 5-0 record at Kauffman Stadium and a 6.5 game lead over the Royals heading into tonight's contest. Suffice it to say, I look for the home side to finally bounce back here to atone for last night's rather lacklustre 2-1 setback in the opener. The visitors send Rick Porcello (11-5, 3.53 ERA) to the hill; Porcello for the most part has been great this year, but he's coming off a horrible outing in which he gave up seven runs and 11 hits over just 5 2/3's innings in his team's 7-3 loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday. Kansas City counters with James Shields (9-4, 3.71 ERA) who will be hungry here as he's lost three straight home starts vs. the Tigers. Shields comes in with some momentum, he gave up three hits and struck out ten over seven frames in his team's 6-0 win at Tampa Bay on Monday. I am going to give Shields the slight nod on the bump this evening and that's going to be just enough to tip the scales in our favor in this situation; lay the very reasonable price.
