I'm expecting a "war of attrition" here. This one is being played at St. Mary's stadium. Southampton is currently in 9th place. The Saints though will be extra-motivated here after a humbling 4-0 loss to Aston Villa in their most recent match. Here's the perfect opponent to do that against. Newcastle is in 14th place. The Magpies enter off a 2-1 upset win over Brighton & Hove Albion, and suffice it to say, I expect an immediate return to mediocrity in this one. If recent and past history is any precedence, then Southampton has to be feeling confident today as it has lonly lost twice in 20 matches at home to Newcastle.
