This is an 8* SITUATIONAL DESTRUCTION on the Winnipeg Jets.
We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account numerous different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.
This particular play is based primarily on strong/relevant ATS statistics and common sense:
As note that Winnipeg is 7-5 (+1.8 units) against the division this year and 9-5 (+4.5 units) after allowing four goals or more, while Chicago is just 4-9 (-6.4 units) against the division this season and only 5-14 (-11.6 units) against clubs with winning records.
The bottom line: The Blackhawks come in off a 2-1 home loss to Minnesota and we think they look ready for another letdown here as well. This is a big time revenge game for the Jets as well after falling to the Hawks 5-1 at home in mid December. With a game tomorrow night in Minnesota, clearly the JETS can't leave anything to chance tonight. We give Winnipeg the nod in net as well here. All things considered, this is a great price.
