This is a 10* TOTAL OF THE WEEK on the OVER between the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks.
When the smoke clears at the end of this one, we look for this total to sail above the posted number. Chicago is rolling again, it's won the first three of a four-game homestand, giving up just three goals in the process. Despite that fact, we think the desperate Ducks will finally see some offensive production today, the team is 1-5-1 to open the season and after Saturday's 3-0 loss in Minnesota, has been shut out in four of seven games while also being outscored 19-6. Anaheim's goaltending can't be blamed this year, Frederick Andersen is 0-3-1 while posting a highly respectable 1.86 GAA and .938 save percentage. However, take note that Andersen has not been at his best vs. the Blackhawks, going 3-6-0 with a 2.92 GAA and .901 save percentage. Note that the Ducks have seen the total go OVER the number in 19 of their last 30 after scoring one goal or less in their previous contest, while the Hawks have seen the total sail above the posted number in 18 of their last 32 after scoring one goal or less in their previous outing. It's almost incomprehensible to us at how badly that Anaheim has played to this point, but here's the perfect stage in which to turn its fortunes around and in our opinion, all signs do indeed point to these two rivals playing to a classic high-scoring shootout; play on the OVER.
