Total: 43.50 | -110.00 Under
Result: Loss
This is a 10* TOTAL ASSASSIN on the OVER between Connecticut and BYU.
We jumped on this line early and got a 46.5. Shortly after it would drop down to 43.5 and it's since come up slightly from that, most places are now offering 44, but regardless, we love this selection and expect these two normally offensively challenged clubs to put enough points on the board for this one to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. BYU is 2-2 after an extremely difficult schedule to open the year, so the Cougars will be looking to put the foot on the gas today and to take advantage of this favorable matchup. The BYU offense is averaging 350.5 yards per game, QB Tanner Mangum has completed 58% of his passes with four TD's to go along with three INT's. Mangum hands off to Adam Hine, who has 312 yards and two major scores thus far. The Huskies won't just be rolling over though, they enter this game with a duplicate 2-2 record and will look to take advantage of a BYU defensive unit which has looked pretty mediocre thus far, allowing 26.8 points and 414 yards per game. The Huskies have averaged only 16.5 points and 320 YPG thus far, but Uconn QB Byron Shirreffs has completed 65% of his passes with four TD's and just one INT. Defensively the Huskies have been decent, allowing only 17.2 PPG, but they now obviously face one of their stiffest tests of the season and we predictably are expecting the unit to struggle. Note that UConn has seen the total go OVER the number in six of its last 11 off a loss vs. a conference rival, in eight of 14 when playing with six or less days rest and in all three road games that it's played the last two years when the total in the contest is between 42.5 and 49. And note that BYU has seen the total sail above the posted number in seven of its last 12 in front of the home town crowd and in two of its last three after two or more consecutive SU losses. Look for these teams to open up the playbook and for this total to go OVER the posted number once the final whistle sounds.
