Point Spread: -2.00 | -115.00 NY Giants (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* BLOCKBUSTER on the New York Giants.
One mistake that bettors make every season is to jump to conclusions about a team after the first week. "September Football" has routinely proven to not be a good indicator of what a team is all about and in our opinion, that'll be the case in this matchup. Atlanta is coming off a huge 26-24 win at home over the Eagles, scoring 20 of its points in the first half and holding on for dear life the rest of the way, securing the victory after Philadelphia missed a last second FG. The Falcons were disastrous on the road last season, going just 3-5 and note that this is almost a duplicate set of circumstances that the team experienced last season, after holding on for a 37-34 win over New Orleans in front of the home town crowd, the team would then fall 24-10 in Week 2 at Cincinnati. There's no room for New York to "look past" the Falcons either after its "brain fart" in Dallas last Sunday night, the Giants had that one in the bag until some brutal play-calling at the end of the game. Note that Atlanta is just 5-10 ATS in its last 15 on the road, while New York is 7-6 ATS in its last 13 when playing the role of favorite. It's basically a "do-or-die" game for the G-Men, we look for a complete effort and for the GIANTS to indeed pull away down the stretch for the comfortable ATS cover.
