Money Line: -175.00 Seattle (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* SITUATIONAL PITCHING MISMATCH on the Seattle Mariners.
The Mariners blanked the Rangers 5-0 yesterday behind a superb performance by Felix Hernandez on the mound and suffice it to say, we're expecting another decisive victory for the home side with its second "ace" taking the hill tonight. The M's come in with plenty of momentum, having won seven of their last nine. Conversely, Colorado has dropped four of its last five, coming in off a rare 4-3 victory over the Padres yesterday. The home side hands the ball to Hisashi Iwakuma (7-3, 4.03 ERA) who has given up two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts, going 4-1 over that stretch. The visitors counter with Chad Bettis (6-5, 4.95 ERA) who has been shelled for 11 home runs in his last ten starts, two of which have come over his last two outings, allowing four runs in each over 10 1/3's total innings. A couple of the league's best home run hitting teams collide in this series, so that definitely puts the spot-light directly onto the starting pitchers today and there's no question which one has the advantage. Lay the price with confidence on the MARINERS.
