Money Line: -140.00 San Diego (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* ASSASSIN on the San Diego Padres.
The visitors hand the ball to Jorge De La Rosa (9-6, 4.24 ERA) who is coming off a gem vs. the Pirates on Sunday, holding them scoreless over six innings while striking out seven. No need to overreact to one decent start though, De La Rosa has been consistently inconsistent this season and the victory marked his first win since August 1st and just his second in the last two months. The home side counters with Tyson Ross (10-10, 3.21 ERA) who gave up one run over six innings to the Dodgers on Saturday, unfortunate to receive a loss for his superb effort. Ross has been getting better as the season has progressed and has been particularly hot of late, going 2-1 with a 2.38 ERA over his last five starts (note that he's 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA in all "day" games this year). These are two teams with nothing to play for as far as the postseason is concerned, so the focus changes to individual achievements until the end of the year, the spotlight in this contest fall directly onto the starting pitchers and in this case, we definitely feel that Ross and the PADRES are worth the price of admission in this matchup.
