This is a 5* play on the New York Mets.
The visitors hand the ball to Aaron Harang (5-14, 4.79 ERA) who was shelled for five runs off nine hits over six innings to go along with three walks and no K's vs. the Mets last Thursday. The "Harang-a-tang" would finish August with a deplorable 0-3, 8.04 ERA in five outings (and note that Harang has been particularly ineffective on the road this year with a 2-7, 5.40 ERA record). The home side counters with Jonathon Niese (8-9, 3.95 ERA) who is also coming off a poor outing, he'd give up five runs of five hits over six innings, waking and striking out five, lucky to get bailed out by his red hot offense in the eventual 9-5 victory over the Phillies last week. Niese was 3-0 with a 5.18 ERA in five August starts and has to be feeling pretty confident that he can bounce back here as he's posted a respectable 3.25 ERA in all "night" contests this season. We'll give Niese the nod in this matchup, clearly he's the superior starter and owns a big advantage by throwing on his home field; and we'll give the hungry Mets' line-up the nod as well. With those two factors working in our favor, it does indeed make this a price in which we have no issues at all in laying. Play on NEW YORK.
