This is a 10* National League GAME OF THE YEAR on the Chicago Cubs.
We played against the Cubs last night and far it be it for us to ever "flip flop" on a team, but MLB is obviously the one exception as for the most part, baseball handicapping comes down to the starting pitching, meaning that each game must be examined individually. We primarily base our MLB selections on starting pitching and in this case, we feel that the actual talent discrepancy on the mound is much larger than what the oddsmakers are leading us to believe (we have Chicago at -104). Jon Lester vs. Matt Latos. Neither of these veteran hurlers is having the season that they'd hoped for this year, but there's no question which of these two hurler's talents have degraded the most. Lester (8-8, 3.44 ERA) comes in with plenty of momentum, most recently he'd throw 8 2/3's scoreless innings in a resounding victory over the Indians on Monday. Note that Lester owns a better road ERA than home, 3.24 compared to 3.53. Latos (4-9, 4.81 ERA) has fallen completely off the map with his performance overall this year though and there's no question that he's struggled since coming over to LA, going 0-2 in three starts. Note that this is Latos' first start in the last two weeks after being moved to the bullpen. This is an unbelievable pitching mismatch, the value is so great that we're forced to pull the trigger on a selection of this magnitude, play on the CUBS.
